Men's Social Group
When preparing for Confirmation 2 years ago I was given the idea of starting a group for men from St John's that would meet regularly just for a drink, a meal and a chat. After consultation with a variety of men and the "green light" from the Rector, we started to meet on the last Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm at a local hostelry. Somewhere different each month and always somewhere we all agree to.
We have numbered 10 but more regularly there are 6 so it’s not big. It provides a forum for men to share joys and concerns with other Christian men in a purely social environment. All men are welcome and apart from the ability to pay for your own food and drink, there are no qualifications required for attendance. The farthest we have travelled is Hatch End and lifts can be arranged for those who do not wish to drive themselves. We have done Italian, Chinese, Asian, Pizza but the most popular is Fish & Chips. We are always on the look for different places to meet. We sometimes meet in one of our homes such as at Christmas when we have Sausage Rolls, Mince Pies and Mulled Wine at Chez Moi.
If you would like to join us just give me a ring (Robin Smith 020 8909 3593) to find out where we will next be meeting. Alternatively speak to me, Richard Christian or John Albin at Church on a Sunday.
