Wives Group
The Wives' Group welcomes all ladies who would like to join us for meetings. In 2010 the group celebrated its 60th anniversary and we have a membership of just over 30 now. Some have been part of the group for many years but others have joined us quite recently.
The group meets in Church House on 2nd & 4th Thursdays of the month at 8 pm.
Usually there is a presentation by a guest speaker for 3/4 - 1 hr. and then there is plenty of time for coffee/tea and a chance to meet and chat to others.
We arrange a yearly programme, with a wide variety of subjects, most informative, some light hearted, aiming to appeal to different tastes. Illustrated talks on history and travel are popular, regular features. Talks by charities, for example Hillingdon Childhood Cancer Support group and Swan Lifeline, provide opportunities for raising awareness and possible involvement. Examples of our more obscure topics are Pillar boxes, time with Magic Man and deep sea diving. Our animal visitors have ranged from bats to owls to police dogs in training. There is something for everyone!
In September we arrange a Beetle drive. In December there is a Christmas Quiz and carols to sing. We hold a Strawberry tea in the summer and welcome many visitors on that occasion.
We also arrange occasional trips to the local theatres and meals to restaurants and sometimes a fish and chip supper held in Church House.
Ladies come to the meetings knowing they will find stimulation, understanding, support and companionship. Visitors are always welcome at any meeting. Do come along and share our friendship. Contact Sheila Oliver (020 8954 4976) or Sue Evens (020 8952 6708) for more details.
