Welcome
A message from Alison Christian, our Rector.
At St John's we try very hard to be a welcoming, loving and inclusive community. The church is not the
building but the people in it and like all human beings we are a mixed bunch – and better for being so!
Those who come to join us are at different stages of their Christian journey. Some are complete novices,
exploring whether there is a God; some are actively engaged in finding out all about him; others are life-long
Christians and still know themselves to be apprentices of Christ, for we never stop learning.
Wherever people are we seek to encourage and support them. We try to provide care and opportunities for every
age group from nought to ninety (and beyond). We have a lively Junior Church and Youth group. We have groups
for adults who are total beginners and on-going groups for all who want to learn. We have social groups as
well and a great choir. Everything we do is underwritten by prayer to the God we believe loves every human being.
For those who like labels you could describe St John's as "middle-of–the-road Anglican with a sacramental bias."
But labels limit people. Come and visit us – you would be very welcome – and make your mind up for yourself.
